MD/PhD or PhD Students - NEW 2023

Position Summary

We are now accepting MD/PhD and PhD students for rotation in the laboratory of Dr. Marcus Goncalves at Weill Cornell Medical Center. Dr. Goncalves is a physician-scientist and his lab works at the interface of cancer and endocrinology. In this position, you will develop a project(s) designed to study the effects of diet on cancer growth and survival using mouse models, cell and organoid culture, and primary human tissues. There will also be opportunities to compare the metabolism of tumors to their respective host tissues. You will receive career development advice and gain valuable interpersonal skills that will enhance your future as a physician scientist. The applicant will be co-mentored by world-renowned cancer biologist, Lewis C. Cantley, who will help develop the project(s).

Education

Candidates must be enrolled in a degree-granting program within the Tri-Institutional Program (PhD, MD, or MD/PhD) in a biomedical science.

Experience

A strong record of participation in basic science research.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative manner with all departmental faculty and staff, as well as other institutional representatives.

  • Candidates should have strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills in English.

  • High levels of critical thinking skills.
